For 44 years, Gutenberg has been highlighting the creativity and expertise of printing craftsmen.
It is with great joy that Produlith announces the nomination of Laurence Desmarchais, our Communications and Marketing Manager, as Chair of the Gutenberg 2026 Committee.
Laurence was chosen for her energy, drive, passion for the industry and unwavering commitment. In doing so, she becomes the youngest woman to hold this prestigious position: “Laurence is the ideal candidate to carry the voice of Gutenberg 2026. This young woman represents a strong, dynamic and committed new generation. It is with great pride that I hand over the reins to her, and salute the success of a united family with a passion for the trade,” explains Serge Loubier, President of the 43rd Gutenberg.

Bringing the print industry to the spotlight
The Gutenberg Gala is undoubtedly the flagship event of the printing industry. This annual competition showcases the talent, creativity and expertise of print professionals in Quebec and across Canada. It is the largest gala of its kind in the country, encompassing all disciplines within the graphic arts sector.
For Laurence Desmarchais, accepting this presidency was a natural choice: “I grew up in the printing industry, driven by a passion passed down through four generations of my family – a source of pride that inspires me every day, particularly as a young woman in a well-established industry. It is a role I take on with enthusiasm, pride, and a sincere desire to drive change. In my role as president, I want to be the voice of the new generation—the one that dares to propel our sector forward, push the boundaries, and build bridges with the generations that came before us!

A gala rich in history…
Since its beginnings in 1982, the Gala Gutenberg has kept pace with changes in the industry. Initially focused on materials that had already won international competitions, today the event celebrates the entire print ecosystem: printing, management, finishing, programming, automation, sales, packaging, marketing and more.
In 2025, 18 trophies were awarded to the industry’s most outstanding artisans. The gala also honors pan-Canadian excellence with the Mention Hors Québec, awarded to the piece printed outside Quebec with the highest score, all categories combined.
Over the years, many well-known personalities have hosted Gutenberg evenings, including Marie-Soleil Michon, Gaston L’Heureux, Guy Mongrain, Geneviève Borne and Pénélope McQuade.

An inspiring and committed next generation
Laurence Desmarchais’ nomination is significant in more ways than one. In an industry still largely dominated by men, her presence at the head of the Gutenberg committee sends out a strong message. Not only does she embody youth, audacity and diversity, but she is also a tangible symbol of the durability and evolution of our industry.
At Produlith, we firmly believe that the future of print depends on leaders who are passionate, open-minded and representative of today’s society.
Congratulations Laurence! The entire team is proud of you!
