Produlith is making a significant investment to better serve its customers

Acquisition of a new state-of-the-art lithographic printing press

Whilst most Quebec-based companies are exercising caution in this uncertain economic climate, Produlith is bucking the trend by making a major acquisition! A new state-of-the-art cardboard press that will enable the company to increase its production capacity and respond even more quickly to its customers’ needs.

Produlith, regarded as one of Quebec’s leading printers, has added a second lithographic press, a Komori Lithrone GL540 Advance. This represents an investment of nearly $2 million. It is a significant milestone, marking another chapter in Produlith’s history.

This cardboard press sets a new benchmark for productivity and sustainability. It reduces energy consumption during printing and features a stable feeder and delivery system operation to minimise paper waste, thereby helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions whilst achieving high productivity, with print speeds of up to 17,000 sheets per hour. This acquisition will enhance Produlith’s service offering, as explained by its president, Shawn Desmarchais: “With this new cardboard press, we are safeguarding our production in the event of breakdowns or malfunctions. We now have twice the production capacity, enabling us to serve our customers even better. We’d been thinking about it for several months and decided the time was right to make this investment.”

An unstable economic climate

Most Canadian SMEs are now navigating an uncertain economic climate, a situation that has persisted since the new US president took office. Tariffs and rising material costs are forcing businesses to scale back or postpone their investments. It’s quite the opposite at Produlith: “The situation is uncertain, and we were a bit worried too, but we consulted our partners, and they want to continue production; they want to move forward. So the volume is there, and we’ve decided to go ahead. With this new press, our delivery times will be reduced, and we’ll be able to meet their needs.”

The new cardboard press was installed at the beginning of September and has been in operation since then, and will create new jobs within the company.
