The printing industry is changing, with women playing an increasingly important role
Produlith promotes equity and diversity
Historically, the printing industry has always been a male-dominated field: The jobs of pressmen and day laborers require a certain amount of physical effort, which explains these statistics.
But things are changing. We’re seeing a change in mentality in the industry, little by little, stereotypes are breaking down and the printing industry is encouraging equity and diversity.
Did you know that at Produlith, nearly 30% of the staff are women? Both in the factory and in the administrative offices, women are becoming increasingly important.

Promoting the role of women is not only a question of justice and equity, it’s also a beneficial strategy for the Boucherville-based company: “Printing has always been a more masculine environment, but in recent years, the trend has been towards change. I receive as many resumes from women as from men. At Produlith, we have an equity and inclusion policy, and we encourage the hiring of women,” says Martin Desgagnés, Human Resources Manager.

Today, women’s contribution to the printing industry is no longer limited to administrative positions, but extends to all aspects of the business.
Fostering an egalitarian work environment
Companies like Produlith, which adopt fair practices, are more attractive to talent, especially the younger generations who strongly value ethics and social responsibility.
It all starts at the top: Annick Garcin is a partner at Produlith and by her very presence, she eloquently demonstrates that it is possible to succeed in this predominantly male environment, as her colleague Farida Belarbia, Director of Operations, explains: “When I arrived at Produlith in 2019, Annick and I were the only women in management. Today, things have evolved and our presence as decision-makers in senior management is helping to attract more female talent. We see this dynamic continuing to strengthen, and the presence of women in the company can only increase in the coming years.”
Technology for greater fairness
In a previous article, we reported on the arrival of a robotized palletizer at Produlith, which moves and stacks boxes, eliminating the need for an employee to lift them, and bringing greater safety at the same time. This improvement also paves the way for a more diversified workforce, and will enable more people, including women, to access these factory functions.
Fairness is a driving force behind Produlith’s success. Not only does it improve employee well-being, it also strengthens overall performance and the company’s image, while making a positive contribution to society. It’s a win-win situation!
